Here is a nice little trick to allow a Flex application reload itself. This is very handy when you are dealing with server side logics that need refreshing the application for something new. The idea of this reload is via Application.application.url. var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(Application.application.url); navigateToURL(urlRequest,"_self"); The above code will do it. Nice and simple.
Bouncin' Burgers is the first restaurant chain staffed entirely by COBOL and FORTRAN programmers. Check it out! ;-)
I’ve briefly kept tabs on the blogs the past few months, and only rarely seen a post discussing the economy.  Like Carrie says, if you want to write well, write about what you know.  My guess is, we don’t have many economists slash software developers/designers blogging on AXNA, or linking to others who match that [...]
Adobe threw a slight curve ball with the long-awaited release of Flash Player 10 today.  The release itself wasn’t the curve ball (although not everyone expected it to happen on thisdate).  The surprise was the audio latency using the new dynamic sound generation APIs. Audio latency, for programs that synthesize sound on the fly, is roughly [...]

Following the Andrew Shorten's post about Announcing UK speakers at MAX Europe (Andrew thanks for mentioning other European speakers too ;) ), I'm very thrilled to anounce that I'm gonna speak at the both MAX Conferences: San Francisco and Milan. Reading the speaker's names and the sessions MAX 2008 should be even better than last year’s event. MAX Europe early-bird pricing has been extended until 19th October, so a full conference pass currently costs 720 Euros (inc VAT). SlideRocket is a rich internet application in every sense of the phrase: rich utility, rich features, and rich look. It has been touted by the Flex community as the first and the best Flex app for a serious and a large-scale utility. It is one of the competitors in the growing SaaS market of online office [...]
Twitter’s down, imagine that.  So, posting this uber-rad, dope, and whack song here instead. Just needs a baseline, and it’s club worthy.
It’s my great pleasure to make an introduction: Noteflight, please say hello to the world. World, there’s something I’d like you to meet: Noteflight. I’m really pleased to be able to finally write this, because it’s been a long journey to get to this point! Noteflight is a new kind of tool for musicians, [...]

Here are the slides from my presentation that I gave today at Flash on the Beach. The presentation covers decompiling Flash and Flex SWFs and includes an overview of the tools available, a few examples of the kind of code you might see, and some security suggestions. I will not be posting any of the [...]
Lately I’ve been working on a set of projects (both my own and others) that are built on top of Moccasin, a new open source AS3 framework that I’ve developed for building graphical editors. Moccasin was distilled and refactored out of the first project that used these ideas so that I could use it [...]
