My friends in LayerTV just released a nice tutorial on Adobe products. The tutorial cover several topics. 1. Illustrator to make a simple logo, and business card 2. Photoshop to build a simple website outline 3. InDesign to make a simple, 3-page template layout based on the logo 4. A Dreamweaver Template based page. 5. An export of images for [...]
Thanks to Andy needing some help on a project, I was able to spend some quality time on Xray to fix a bug and enhance it to work with rawChildren containers in flex.  Above is a picture of the contents of rawChildren object in flex and a Papervision3D BasicView object highlighted.  I’m able to go [...]
Just to give equal air time to my apparently scandalous post proclaiming how much I liked Flash CS4, let me say that it is not perfect and there are some things that bug me about it. Still, overall, an awesome release, but just to prove I’m not an Adobe robot, here we go. Note, these [...]
This week, try to play with the new Adobe Flash CS4. After trying the new features, such as new bone system, 3d object, motion mixer etc. Amazing, the new version seem to have much improve on the authoring. After the new features, i am trying to get the new version into my daily workflow. Then, i [...]

Keeping with our yearly tradition of squash mutilation here at gskinner.com, I'm happy to present this year's Great Pumpkin Showdown. We broke into teams of two, based on seniority, and hacked the crap out of a bunch of defenseless pumpkins while drinking beer, eating pizza, and gorging on candy. Also keeping with tradition, we made the most recent hires build out the pumpkin voting team.
Yesterday Lee Brimelow published a video report from The ActionScript Conference Singapore. The video is so cool that I had to point it out ;) As Lee wrote, these smaller events (such as the ActionScript Conference) are often just as good as the larger, more expensive conferences. And another good point is that the enviroment is very familiar and you can keep in contact with everyone easily, creating the perfect field for networking.
Just have a try on this new 3d player. It is a flash 3d player. No special plug-in needed. Sophie 3D claim that it can render in realtime over 50.000 polygons with texture maps, reflection maps, transparent materials, an infinite number of lights and shadow planes. I have go though some sample on their website. Seem [...]

Any of you using Andy’s ViewportLayers (see his post here) to selectively render separate layers will now find a fairly significant improvement in performance. And it’s because we’ve managed to shrink Flash’s dirty rectangle! The dirty rectangle is the area of the screen that is being redrawn by the Flash Player every frame, and you [...]
Inspired (for the second time) by James Paterson showing off Amit Pitaru's stuff at Flash on the Beach last month, I did this on the train to work this morning (yeah, I'm braggin'): Actually, that's just a screenshot of something I drew with what I made. Mouse events We’ve implemented mouse interactivity support for 3d objects. Now you can handle mouse events by attaching listeners to objects, surfaces and faces. Event objects contain all necessary information about the point in which an event has occurred: 3d-coordinates, uv-coordinates and affected elements of the scene. Sprites Now the engine includes sprites — objects that don’t have faces but only position in the scene and an image which is placed in that position. Sprites are useful for displaying various objects that do not need to be real 3d objects. Since sprites are built into BSP-tree, they are qualitatively sorted before rendering. Developer’s material The purpose of this material is to give a visual representation of BSP-tree’s quality. With its help you can see, for example, how much fragments different faces have or how deep in the tree they are lying. Such information may help you to optimize your 3d-model for better performance. Adjustable clipping It is possible now to set clipping modes for cameras. This allows not to render objects that are too far or, if the entire scene is before the camera and never leaves viewport, you can turn off clipping thus increasing rendering speed.
Simple tech demo showing a 3D music visualizer using the flash player 10's new 3D APIs. Nothing too complex, but the result is kind of neat, and it is simple enough to serve as a quick entry into using the new APIs if you're getting started. It also uses the new Vector type in player 10...
Here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/177127#post-886724 you will find a download called swfupload_patch.zip. Replace the files in your WP 2.6.3 installation with the files in this zip and the Flash uploader is remarkably restored to your WP installation. See below: Admittedly, the button looks a bit wonky, but that’s more of a design issue than anything else. The button is [...]
When I was out in San Francisco for Flash Forward this summer, I was asked to come over to Adobe to shoot some video. They put makeup on my face and asked me a bunch of questions under hot lights and stuff. Just noticed the video is now up! http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/features/ God, I hate watching myself on video!

I released version 2.0 of Flint particles today. This features one bug-fix and a number of minor speed enhancements over the beta that has been available for the past couple of weeks. I've also added an mxp installer to the downloads, and tested everything with Flash CS4. As usual, you can find more on the Flint website...
