Dave Schroeder has very kindly invited me to talk at FlashBelt this year. After meeting Dave at FITC Toronto i’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be talking about the new PaperWorld3D set up i announced in the last post as well as using the FORCE for creating complex multi-user apps. I’ll be posting all the source [...]
One of the overwhelming problems with PaperWorld3D so far has been the steep learning curve. People are having trouble getting the demo to even work, never mind get to grips with the underlying principles involved. This is a Bad Thing. So, to try and remedy this situation i’ve looked at splitting out the important bit of the [...]
I was contacted by Justin Ouellette, the creator of Muxtape, who asked that I remove the download functionality from MuxMaster. I’m torn about this issue, on one hand Muxtape is a service based on technology that makes distributing MP3s extremely easy. Justin has chosen to hide this capability because he’s appropriately scared of the consequences [...]
As mentioned earlier, I will be presenting at Webmaniacs. My session is titled, “Modular Development with Flex and LiveCycle ES“. I am also doing two session on Thermo, some very cool new technology coming soon from Adobe. Click the Thermo link above for an intro There is still time to register - [...]

I am in the process of uploading the keynote file for my preso... the pdf export option is great but it screwed it up with the transitions and all.

Thanks again to everyone who attended, and more so for those checking out the preso who weren't there and giving me feedback!

Yesterday, a new feature was made available on the Flex Developer Center (part of the Adobe Developer Connection) that allows multiple sources to be searched from one location. What’s cool about this new search feature is that it searches not only the numerous Adobe sites, but also other community-based sources such as [...]
Four positions this week, and all in California:
  • VMWare (Plato Alto, CA) is looking for a ColdFusion developer. Requirements include 5+ years of full-time ColdFusion development with at least 3 years experience with CFMX or later (it is strongly preferred that most recent position relied heavily on your ColdFusion skills), strong SQL skills, and applied MVC experience. Experience with Flash Forms, Flash Remoting or Flex is a plus. Contact Trish Austin.
  • Disney (Southern CA) is looking for a ColdFusion developer. Requirements include at least 4 years of ColdFusion experience, and strong JavaScript skills. Contact recruiter Cynthia Major at Kforce Professional Staffing.
  • Intelligent Beauty (Manhattan Beach, CA) is looking for a senior ColdFusion developer. Requirements include 5+ years of ColdFusion experience, familiarity with CFMX (6.1,7 and/or 8) and CFCs, experience with at least one major CF framework (Fusebox 4/5 preferred, or Model-Glue or Mach II), and strong SQL Server skills. Tim Buntel (yep, even though he moved to the Flex team we still like him) is looking for feedback to drive the feature set of the next major update to Flex Builder. He posted details on his blog (which, of course, is still powered by ColdFusion).

Shameless self promo I suspect but an interview I did with FWA is now online - you can read it here. I think my fave comment is listed under greatest achievements :)

Blog posts can be a total tease. You get to the end and you’re ready for more, but all that’s there is maybe some post navigation, and if you’re lucky a few comments. If your appetite was whetted by the awesome post you just read there’s no place for you to go, except maybe to [...]
MuxMaster is an open-source desktop player to browse, play, and download Muxtape mixes. It is an AIR application that lets you stream music from Muxtape, explore different mixes to find new music, and even download tracks and entire playlists to your computer with a single click. UPDATE: After being contacted by the creator of Muxtape [...]
InfoWorld has posted a detailed review of Flex Builder 3.
Well, at least my book is… Foundation ActionScript 3.0 Animation: Making Things Move! now available in Japanese! I knew this was being worked on, but didn’t know it was out already. Buy it here. I’ll be over there next month. Hopefully I can find a copy (unless someone from Friends of ED can score me one beforehand).
