Much has been written about the recent announcement of Google and Adobe working together to make Flash content indexed and searchable. Much written, with no real concrete answers. Lots of tests (A very good one done by Peter Elst), a contest held by Ryan Stewart (Flexmagically Searchable, FTW!), and some well formed opinions from [...]

Dear friends! We have about 2.5 thousand users on our forum already, mostly flashers. We often have to answer questions about Flash in general, not about Alternativa3D, and it’s not bad. We created “Flash” sub-forum for such questions, so we can discuss “around-flash” topics there, and we’ll try to help with suggestions and recomendations there. forum.alternativaplatform.com

Besides implementing OggVorbis I was working on an effect for a while. It is called the Rasselbock and will probably not make it into the next launch but since I love the device so much I have some top-secret recordings of what that little guy can do. It is basically an IDM/glitch-type effect unit with a [...]
As a general rule, you want to be using AMF for communication between Flash Player on the client (running a Flash or Flex app) and your back-end server (unless you need messaging and push and data management services, in which case LiveCycle Data Services is what you'll want). Lee Brimelow explains this (and lists AMF options for different back-ends) in a recent post entitled What the hell is AMF? And James Ward demonstrates the performance implications in his Census - RIA Data Loading Benchmarks.
I’m just putting the final touches on my training workshop in Cologne next week and as there are a few spaces left I thought it may be fun to have a little competition to win $125 off a ticket! So I worked it out with the Rich Media Institute and can now offer the discount [...]
I’m absolutely delighted to announce that for the second year running we have (not one but) two projects as FlashForward Award finalists this year! Our first finalist is our work with MLB.com (that’s Major League Baseball for those born under a rock or outside the USA ). We developed a Papervision3D component for their [...]
First off, I'll just say that this kind of work is enough to cause you to go barking mad. Just set yer hair on fire and start running the halls naked now. I'll start off by archiving what I found, then go into "best practices" on how to create a plane using a movieclip that [...]
Wow, the Flash player is being downloaded at an unbelievable pace. Within 6 months the 9.0.115 player is already over 80% worldwide and over 83% in the U.S./Canada.
As André already mentioned we have finally got an Ogg Vorbis Encoder in ActionScript 3. André wrote a lot about the benefits already. Now what I really like about the encoder is the way we could minimize the encoding time by ~50%! I know two implementations of Ogg Vorbnis. One is written in C and another [...]
