This is a document that I wrote back in October 2007. I forgot about it until just now. My original idea was to define my “dream job” within Adobe, explain exactly what I wanted to do, and tell them why they should hire me. For a variety of reasons I never sent this document. This [...]
I’m speaking at the Flash on the Beach conference in Brighton, England in September! I’m really excited about this conference because it’s not a Flex conference, it’s a Flash conference (but of course there will be plenty of Flex represented). I’ve got a little notoriety among you Flex developers, but Flash guys are like, “Doug [...]
This is a quick post to about a few of the conferences I’m either speaking at, going to, or regretting not being able to attend. 360|Flex When: August 18-20, 2008 Where: San Jose, CA I can’t go! Nooo! I’ll be in Sweden. I might make it back in time to come and hang out with people at one [...]
Adobe MAX is a special time of year. Kind-of like getting together the family for Christmas… Lots of drinking, carousing, and the gift of inspiring Flex talks by people like Ely Greenfield and Christophe Coenraets. This year festivities take place November 16 - 19 at Moscone in San Francisco. Moscone has become like [...]

Comtaste is continuing to grow. Our development team gained a talented and experienced JEE and Flex developer and our blog has a new author, Kira Garfagnoli, that will publish articles about user experience in the RIA world. Her first post has been published two weeks ago : Flex rich interface design: why big companies choose Flex and many others will follow. I'm so enthusiast to be part of this growing !
Lee Brimelow has released a video tutorial that shows you how to create content for the Flash Player 10 beta which was released last week. As of right now there is no tools available to author Flash 10 content but you can download the latest command-line MXMLC compiler to get started creating content. In this [...]

Unfortunately I know I won't have the time to prepare a detailed summary post about my visit and partecipation at the Multi-Mania Conference 2008. I just want to say that it was an awesome experience and I had great time with the rest of the speakers (Koen, Peter, Aral, Ralph, Serge and many others). Everything worked great and was well organized by Koen and the other stuff of the crew. Thanks for your support.
Recently I tried to set up a Java backend with Tomcat 6.0 to use with Flex. I have to say that I ran into a few problems that caused me a bit of a headache, so I thought I would share my solution to hopefully help anyone else who might have this problem. If you are looking to [...]

Samuel Asher Rivello has posted his ActionScript 3 and MXML Coding Standards. If you're getting started with Flex, this may be of use to you.
Recently I haven’t been blogging at all. I’ve largely fallen off the face of the earth. Take a look at my sent emails from the past week and see if you can figure out why. I use colored labels in gmail to help easily categorize emails. The blue just means it was an email I received [...]
A tutorial on how to build Flex applications for Astro flash player. This will be a step by step tutorial which is intended to help you install the last Flex SDK from daily builds. Read Tutorial
This Wednesday evening (5/28), I am giving a talk on bleeding-edge Flash audio and music synthesis at the Boston Flash Platform Users Group . Jeez Louise, I must be about the worst self-publicist ever… I’ve been so busy that I forgot to blog my own speaking event. Anyway, the meeting is at the [...]
I caught the following post, "Lets call LiveCycle what is really is", which captures a certain zeitgeist as developers and architects try to understand what LiveCycle ES can mean to them.  In this post, I'd like to share my thoughts on how I think Software Developers and Architects - particularly those who are already taking Adobe technologies into the enterprise - can think about LiveCycle ES. To summarise, if you're a software architect or developer, then some of the ways you can think of LiveCycle ES are:   The backend to your Rich Internet Application front-ends A Service Oriented Architecture...
Flexcover 0.50 is now available on Google Code. This version is a lot better than the previous release, which we called “experimental” for a reason! There are two really enormous improvements in Flexcover 0.50: Branch (or path) coverage: the new Flexcover compiler tracks all the conditions in your code that affect control flow, and counts how [...]
