I’m using Gaia , the framework for Adobe Flash , for one of my projects. As a n00b, I’ve screwed up my site.xml a few times since I didn’t read the manual. Gaia 2.2 helps a tad in that regard by now validating your site.xml before it goes about scaffolding the whole thing [...]
FlashHunter has been used by actually one person: Michael Baczynski. He asked me at the FFK08 in Germany if I could modify the plugin to give him a global keyboard hook which will kill all instances of the Flash Player including the debugger. So here it is: The FlashHunter Deluxe. Just for you Michael :) Download Share This

These guys are probably the most creative Flash guys out there. I’ve never heard of Julian Venard, but I just spent an hour on his site, listening to his music, exploring. http://www.julianvelard.com/ Once you get through it, you gotta go through it again with the wefail commentary. Hilarious. In case you haven’t heard of wefail… http://wefail.com/
I think I have some fundamental lack of understanding here. I'm trying to use CSS to specify how some HTML text in a text field is rendered. Specifically, I want my bold text to be a bit larger and different color. I have this test code: PLAIN TEXT Actionscript: var tf:TextField = new TextField(); tf.width = 200; tf.multiline = true; tf.wordWrap [...]
Right after the Mirror class, A new addition to the Away3D library: The PathExtrude class. The PathExtrude class projects any profile defined by Number3D's on a given Path. Capital P to Path, because it's also a new comer to the library. (This one will do much more later on...) This class allows you to generate phone cords, [...]
This link was passed around my office today.. I got a good laugh out of it so I thought I would post it. Beckground: In June of last year, HEMA a Dutch department store, was sold to British investment company Lion Capital. They revised their home page, and obviously have a sense of humor about it [...]
A tutorial showing you how to create a skin KingnareStyle skin using FlexBuilder 3 and Flash CS3. Read Tutorial and download support files

One of the frustrations of being busy with client work is the lack of time to investigate, experiment and play with interesting stuff. One day I'll have time to try all this stuff but until then, here's a simple list of the flash/flex tools I'd like to play with. Maybe you'll find something interesting here...

Just found this blog post today from Colin Moock on the new XML based file format (XFL) that will be available with Flash CS4. This is great news and since its XML based and not binary like FLA, I thinking this could make life easier for companies with big projects and lots of developers to [...]

It surprises me that one of the most commented upon and downloaded classes from my blog is a card flipping effect. With that in mind, I thought it might be an interesting exercise to recreate this effect targeting Flash Player 10. As of the writing of this article, Flash Player 10 Beta (Astro) and the corresponding API documentation have been released. This article will step you through the classes used to achieve a card flipping effect using the new rotationY property that exists in Flash Player 10.

With a great feeling we’re pleased to inform you that we managed to win at Russian Flash Awards in two categories — “3D” and “Technical achievement”. Anton Volkov and Vladimir Babushkin flew to the capital to take part in a ceremony. They’re back with some diplomas and two strange-shaped prizes. The present from Adobe is an invitation to represent Russia at Adobe Max 2008, this December in Milan. Thank you everybody for your support and critics!
I surf the web, my feed reader, twitter and a lot of the other information sources. Often I find I want to use a highlighter or otherwise annotate my reading material just as I would of done back in college (mabye a little less liberally with the highlighting). Jing is great for this and I’m [...]
It’s amazing how much the world of software development is changing. What was once a clandestine affair now extends to early public alphas / betas. For those not quite so inclusive, a Flickr stream of UI screenshots lets the masses get involved. Why screenshots of the UI? Like it or not, everyone considers themselves a UI [...]
No, not the music Pandora, this Pandora: I’ve been following this for a few months now. Looks like a really cool device. Prototypes recently released to select developers. Should go on sale this month or next. Since my wife and daughter discovered my DS Lite and stole it from me, this may be my next toy [...]
After yesterday’s rather well received Papervision3D session, I’m now gearing up for what will probably be the last time I present my particles session, Kaboom!!! Blowing things up in Flash I feel like I’m laying a close friend to rest, they’ve been with me through the years, the ups, [...]
The Flashbelt 08 conference started this morning with a warm welcome by Dave Schroeder, the big chief of the conference. He mentioned that there are free posters and tshirts for everyone … wooot :-). Then the Adobe keynote started. First Mark Anders (senoir principal scientist Adobe Systems) started to talk about what already happened in the [...]
